Curriculum Overview
Early Learning Center
The BMHA's Early Learning Center (ELC) encourages each child to reach for academic richness in an environment that is warm and nurturing. The program helps every child develop his or her self-esteem. We engage pre-school children in a multi-faceted curriculum that sparks creativity, introduces academic skills, promotes a foundation of Jewish values, and establishes beginning Hebrew language skills.
The main focus of the Early Learning Center (ELC) is to foster a love of school and learning, independence, self-confidence, and academic readiness skills. We do this through a wide variety of activities such as art, stories, discussions, songs and games. Developing fine motor and large muscle skills are also a major area of concentration.
The children in the Pre-Kindergarten program are actively involved in exploring their world. Using all five senses, they experience activities in Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Science, Hebrew Language and Religion. Every aspect of their learning helps to enhance growth in social, emotional, physical, academic and spiritual domains. Children learn to test their abilities and experiment with new activities in a warm, safe environment.
Learning Objectives
Lower and Middle Schools
Lower School Academics (Kindergarten - 5th Grade)
The Grade School curriculum enhances students' creative and critical thinking abilities. Students are challenged to move deeper into reading comprehension, the mechanics of writing, and analytical mathematics skills. Curricula are tailored to meet individual student needs whenever possible.
Middle School Academics (6th – 8th Grades)
The Middle School curriculum requires students to think more abstractly, and they are encouraged to have insight and depth of expression on all assignments. The staff at the Hebrew Academy strives to help these students develop complex strategies for thinking about the world in which we live. School curriculums are modified to each individual whenever possible.
